    Hi, need some advice!
Recently had a engineered wood floor laid over a timber wood subfloor - small living room. I think they used what looks like 5mm thick and quite firm green underlay and glue installation.
I'm concerned because there is a section (about a 4sq metre area in a 20 sq metre room) which is basically very bendy, springy and creaky...like there is a significant gap between the newly laid floor and the subfloor in that area.
When I told the guy, he said the subfloor wasn't as even as he would have liked, but it should settle with time....

Will it settle, or just get worse? From a basic understanding of physics, I Would have thought that walking over a bouncy section over an uneven subfloor will just transfer forces to the weak areas where the planks join and eventually buckle and break the bonds between them?

Given that it is a period maisonette, I am happy to accept it, if the alternative means ripping out or extensive work to the original timber subfloors, which I simply can't afford right now! But was there any other way of making sure this bouncing trampoline effect could have been reduced in that area??

Why was it fitted as a floating floor and not secret nailed ?? The floor should have been made flat before any wood was fitted , there are manufactures recommendations on this.

Could of at least built up the hollow with a patch of ply and feather the edges in if he was going to float it most likely didnt notice it till the end though but should of had the level out to check the floor at the estimate stage, like floorcraft said could of quite easily secret nailed it instead but to be honest floating it is fine to, minus the springy bit obviously.

Was sub floor prep included in your quote? What was discussed between yourself and the flooring company?
