Anybody ever come across this screed. Customer has bought their own and wants me to use it. But i say noooooo.
Looks like a wickes or toolstation one. Seem to remember someone saying, once upon a time, that balls make the screed for wickes
Not got a clue pal. She just sent me picture. Started off today with we are looking for van gogh, then joiner has plyed floors. Asked for email pics as job is about hour an half away. Then i was told electric matting to go down. Can i do this? No was my answer. Can i fibre screed over matting. Yes i can. Oh great we have the screed and I've found the van gogh online for £22.50 inc vat. Ok can you send me a pic of screed please. Thats the pic I've posted. Going to turn this one down me thinks.
all latex is really a water mix, but they add latex to make it flexible and sticky which also as a bonus that they become moisture resistant. (uk market thing only) With the 'latex' / 'water' mixes they tend to turn the latex to a powder and add to the bag, when you mix with water it still ends up a latex if that makes sense?
Get the online fitter to do it. Why fit stuff from online?? All you do is de-value a trade which is trying to improve its reputation.
Your correct in what your saying Matt but in the past that's how i got my work (didn't do shop work) till i got decent terms/accounts with Karndean and Pennine Flooring. Now I tell them they won't get there warranty buying from a 3rd party but if they still buy there own I'll never turn work away. When the recession hit a lot of fitters up here where fighting for work. A lot left the trade but i survived and i would do it by any means necessary even if that meant fitting internet bought flooring. Had to feed my family some how and as my wife was fighting depression i needed to be around a lot more and very flexible with my work so i couldn't commit to shop work as most want blood from you.
Im with this to...I cant see what the problem is if the customer gets their own Lvt then whatever, ill still fit it. Im Doing a job next month for a guy who has bought a load of LG flooring off Ebay and has had it for a long time. Im doing the prep & fit and explained to him that my opinion is the actual flooring itself aint the best but if he wants me to fit it then ill do it no problem. Ok so the internet is ****ing a lot of people up but would you seriously turn down £450 profit for 1 1/2days work?
It's not much different to adaption work really. I've done loads of internet jobs and the fitting money is much better than what a shop would pay me and I spec the job myself. Supply my own gripper. Recommend my own prep work. If there's a problem with the materials that's their problem and most understand that. If I had a shop I obviously wouldn't do it as there is not enough profit.
I fitted some of that LG crap my customer bought on line. Was a first for me (product & customer supply) & never again I made £600 profit for 1 1/2 days work
I had the Black LG tile in my old house in the kitchen. I liked some of the tiles but the woods are awful.
I charge more if I fit stuff the customer has bought from somewhere else, adds a fiver a metre onto my normal rates
