Any half decent fitter wouldn't lower themselves to ask for advice about a job their doing! I know i wouldn't and don't need to! For example i don't know how to do a sewn bullnose and don't feel the need to either but if i ever did i would book on a course to learn how.anyway Matt can't understand why they're ringing you with so many good instruction videos on youtube lol

knowledge is power, if you dont know ask! dont think its on phoning a training centre asking how to do a job if you dont know but theres nothing wrong with asking other fitters if your not sure about something, theres always a better more knowledgable fitter than yourself no matter how good you are, except maybe matt lol

yeah i am serious i don't take on a ****ing job i'm not capable of doing which is what the post is about! Matt said he has people ringing him who are stuck on a job and can't finish it? THAT'S MY POINT!!!! That's what i mean about lowering yourself!

don't be rediculous! If i can't do it i wont do it! Not attempt it then think oh **** i'm stuck then phone a training centre to help get me out of the ****!!!! That's what i'm trying to say!!!! I've had phone calls about fitting safety flooring and lvt click and i've declined the jobs because i can't do them but have passed on phone numbers of people that can. You've clearly misunderstood my post as per usual!

    I know what you're saying steve :)

I too wouldn't take on something I don't install, like textiles.
However, if I have a question about what I do day to day like LVT (eg Product compatibility etc) I don't worry about asking other fitters for advice....(Daz will vouch for me on that, ha ha Thanks Daz)

Having said I would never have attempted a bendy LVT with instructions over the phone!!

I agree with you Steve In that I will only do something I know I can do. Too many 'fitters' will take something on because they think they can do it, but end up making a cock up of it.

If I wanted to start doing something I get booked on a course to learn the basics, but also have someone who will do a few jobs with me until I'm confident in my ability and so I don't make a mistake which will cause me to get a bad reputation.

I will ask for advice on certain issues, but sometimes 2/3 fitters will have a different mind set and will have different ways of solving an issue.

I'd never dream of phoning a training centre for advice especially if I hadn't even a clue of how it should be done.
