I'd like to attend as there's always new skills to learn and apply in my job especially on material's, equilibriums and as mentioned in an earlier forum post things manufacturers don't want to know. (It was about glues). Happy Xmas. Plus i want to be at Cre8tives jedi level. Lol
You post in here ! Why would you like to attend floorskills Spacey? or you copy and paste / share on twitter for 2x chance of winning. Share on Facebook and get 3x chance of winning, you might even win all 3 courses, i would say the odds are very low tho. Better odds of winning lottery tho. I will need a link to your original post on twitter or facebook to see how many people like/ share.
Well Mathew... I would like to attend floorskills because..... believe it or not I don't know every thing ? & also I'm on for the hattrick
I'm a not bad for a fluffy fitter Dave. Plenty of others I'd like to be as good as, but thanks for the compliment.
I'd like to attend as there's always more to learn and where better to learn it! Been getting withdrawal symptoms as not been up to the training centre for ages
I would like to go back up to floorskills as being a alright/good fitter isn't good enough, yoda level is the bare minimum I want to achieve plus I get to show up the other fitters my way with it
I would like to go on a course at Floorskills to learn more and see how the real pro's do it. Oh yeah and to know how to bend a plank!
I plan on going to Floorskills in the new year anyway, but I wouldn't mind a free course. Learn from the pros and up my skill level.
I would like to go to floorskills to do the carpet course so that in the future I could go back to do the accreditation test
Why would I like to go to floorskills? Here where i live there's no where on the whole island that teaches these skills. And no one care's. The shops pay lip service to having professional fitters. I have tried to encourage other fitters to take the job seriously but as soon as they have to put their hands into their pockets interest wains somwhat. Fitters here learn from the previous generation so old habits prevail and become the norm, even when pointed out that times and techniques change this is met by scoffing. Even when I point out that up to 90% or stairs are incorrectly fitted ( I can't fit them all ) it is met by a shrug off the shoulders. Here's the shocking fact Carpetright is the only game in town as far as training is concerned, its not perfect and the fitters see it as a forced day of to told by some English **** ( no offence. Not my words) how to do it right and he probably doesn't work on the tools anyway. Imagine carpetright in your area being the only fitters able to prove their the only fitters with independent training. I have all but given up trying to persuade the government bodies to start proper apprenticeship schemes even if there was who will teach it, the current fitters can't. You know recently I got a powerstrecher. I was telling some of the other fitters about this ( not the price) and I was met with " what do yea need that for" , "load of s#*t", " "never needed one never will need one". Thats the normal answer to everthing. I will never claim to be the best fitter in my area I don't have the right to as I am a product of my training but have learned more of this site since I've joined than I can mention. I have reached the time in life where I should be passing on some skills, but what skills? The same as I was taught? I am currently working to a new shop and will try to persuade them to introduce training as their current fitters are all up for retirement very soon. They may be open to this as their father (who opened the business) tried to do this in the eighties but there were no training center's offering this service. Sorry if i went on a bit and maybe a bit of a rant but thats how it is here.
