Could someone please tell me the bs for carpet on underlay in commercial premises ? As I can't find them online. Tia
Bump. Anyone please ? As I'm in a situation where I said carpet should be double stuck but they wanted domestic Install which is now causing issues. Tia
Can get you the textile bs and link it over to you abit later when I get in, I'm pretty sure it needs to be stuck though as you are getting excessive traffic on it and wouldn't stay taught for long.
Bs standards does not state how commercial areas should be fitted. As it would vary with location, you need to go of the manufactures recommendation. Just because it is commercial does not mean you can not stretch fit.
I've alway prefred & recommend stick down as its more stable & wears better but it's just the norm really if stretched fitted Anything over 5m power stretched or preferably power stretch the lot
Always base the job requirements on its merits. If it's heavy, constant traffic (nightclub etc) then def double stick. If it's a wee office round the back then stretch fit lol
Thanks for replies. I've stretch fitted it but it is constant traffic which is causing issues with the carpet wearing and I've always double stuck commercial broadloom but the client didn't want this method.
personally I think its up to us to educate the end user to the requirements that best fit their needs. If they choose to disregard that information then its on their head tbh
So, what was the reason for them not wanting it stuck all over? I presume the way you are talking, you have already done the job at their spec, are they now having issues with it as it's not stuck all over as you probably suggested?
basically yes. They had carpet before and that wasn't stuck so they didn't want it stuck this time round.
Do you know what carpet and underlay they had before? What type of backing the old one had? What underlay they had before?
it was 80 sqm I power stretched the main corridor which was 12 m x 1.5 ish but didn't on the landing and hallway as these were smaller.
they had action backed carpet and rubber underlay that was 30 years old and was crumbling as I uplifted but the carpet was joined every 1 m
