Started a job today. Uplift wood blocks stuck with thick bitumen adhesive.
    Suggestions for removing gunk?
Done the small room with a 7" concrete planer with pcd disc on. Gunk is so thick it kept clogging up the sides of the dust shroud so I had to keep stopping, remove disc and then clean out gunk. Tried razor scrapper but where it's still sticky it just clogs it up.
Meant to order a pcd disc for my buffer before Xmas but didn't.
Anyone had any success spreading sand and using a coarse copper disc?

You're going about it the right way, it's just a right PITA. No way round it. It's just one of them unpleasant cr!ppy jobs.

I'd consider hiring a bigger floor grinder though, being sure to tell the company what it's for. The extra weight makes it an easier task and it ain't your tool if it breaks.

Poured a bag of sand on the lounge and went over it with buffer with coarse disc on.
Killed the worse of the tackiness. Finished off with the grinder.
27-30 m2, uplifted and ground. That bit was finished about 2.30 - 3.
Then had some holes to fill ready for tomorrow

    Nicely done.

Matt or anyone - Is that second picture about right? I've always like completely removed bitumen with the exception of scabby bits. Did always think I may have been over doing it  and I'd probably be fine with the above finish. I know it's kind of subjective but what's your thoughts chaps??

There are some patches I've filled showing. The bigger areas.

Its all down to its bond strength, thickness of contaminates left etc.

Me personally I like to see fresh concrete every where. Sometimes this is over kill. All depends on the above.

Isn't there any type of solvent you can brush on, and the bitumen bubbles up like nitromors does with paint?

Probably but then you've got a solvent on the floor that may affect the bond of the primer and screed

Been testing a new product at floorskills over the last 6 months. It totally natural so no solvents.

Amazing stuff breaks down every thing we have put it on so far (not tried bitumen yet) and it even broke down hot melt adhesive.

After about 1 hour it seems to expire and stop breaking things down and simply dries up.

You've done a fantastic job but there are quite a few screeds around which could have done the worst of it for you.
But fair play, there aren't many lads who would have done that :thumbs
