I only seem to come on here when I have a lvt job lined up any way....scenario is the house thermostat is in the hall set at 17 but the temperature has been over the last couple of months in the conservatory between 4.4 degrees and a max of 18.6.(must of been sun that day ) she doesn't have the heating on between 9.30 to 7. Sooo im fitting victoria select style tiles on thursday delivering tiles tomorrow I was going to tell her to have heating on 24 hours from tomorrow to at least 48 hours after I have fitted, im going to be using the mapei vs90 When I went around the other day in the morning although the heating was on it was still only 12 degree in the conservatory, still quite cool, i,m trying to remember from the course I did with Matt , but is this going to be too cold still ?
Depends how hot it's going to get in there in the summer ? If it's south facing it going to get very hot indeed
It has a wall around the bottom not south facing and she has special glass put it to prevent it getting ridiculously hot carpet is so much more straight forward
I'd say it's still going to get a lot hotter than 12° in the summer It's never ideal fitting in conservatorys in the winter I'd get the temp up & stick it with firbe reinforced or even better epoxy
I'd go with Uzin KE66 myself. Used it on a job with bi folding doors and South facing. Been down nearly 2 years with no gapping.
Perhaps I will get her to turn it up the heating a bit , but when I leave and she has her heating back to normal ie off in the evening will it not shrink back ?
If it was me and that's how she lives with her heating then fit it don't turn it up more than she lives in as when she turns it down its going to shrink.
Its always going to be problematic fitting lvt in a conservatory Like Daz said its very unlikely your going to get gapping if you use a fibre reinforced glue like ke66 I think you have to weigh up what's going to be the most dramatic temp change ? 18°-20°ish →god know how high ? or 12° to god knows how high ? Answer on a post card
This is the conclusion I am coming round too , trouble is you can't dictate to people after you finish what temp that they should keep the room at
Sounds like she doesn't like being too hot so if imagine that in the summer along with that heat dampening glass she is likely to have fans on the go or maybe even a little aircon unit, might be worth asking her.
She said to me she's likes having it cooler and would rather wear a jumper than have the heating high
No its not. Nore is Fballs, mapeis and the others out there. (basically im not picking on uzin in other words) But it will not stop movement 100%. In fact far from it !
How far & what kind of temp changes are you talking about though ? Fibre reinforced is a lot stronger than your average wet set ht though ain't it ?
Well it's all done fitting temp was between 18 and 20 degrees , tiles were a couple of degree lower on the floor .....she's keeping heating on overnight for 3 days , but after then ....what can you do i find fitting LVT quite annoying being fussy , some tiles were different size as were the stripping , hairline cracks in places grrrr you boys who fit all the time is it me or are you battling against the material ???
