Does anyone bother ? and has anyone who does, had to make a claim ?
I don`t carry all my kit around all the time, but sometimes there can be a lot on board.
I`d be pretty gutted to lose it, although before I had the extra locks fitted, I got done twice.

How much is included? It's usually set at a limit.

My brother in law is a sales exec for a big insurance company and my machines are all insured wether in the vans or onsite, my cover is upto 50k and costs me around £100 a month with a £250 excess, also the policy is tailored exactly for my needs.

It's not the cheapest out there but I sleep well at night knowing that if the worst does happen (it has once) that I can replace it pretty much straight away.

He also does my public liability insurance which is lumped in with it which is £10,000,000 public and £2,000,000 personal which is around another £80.

Ive got mine included on my van insurance (i think..) but as above if you have some big machines or even expensive then id defo be insuring them. We had a brandnew wolff stripper on one site couple yrs ago and we used it for half a day, went back on site next morning and it was gone. 4k down the swan and the contracts manager hadnt insured it!

50k is big cover. Probably overkill for me, and I don`t fancy £1200 a year in premiums either.
I know what you mean about peace of mind though, so get where your coming from.
Just roughly, I might have around 20k of kit, but never all in the van,or on site at once.
I rekon somewhere between 5-10 would do, and on site/in van cover would be needed.
Might get a few quotes, to see what the rates are

It's 2 full sets of sanding machines Hummel/flips/trios/Palm sanders etc. plus at least a 2k in materials usually. In fact I probaly need to tot up what I have now just to make sure it's all covered!!

Don't want to take any business away from A plan but if you want to pm me I can always pass on his number if you like.

My premiums weren't that high 5 years ago but it was just me on me Todd then.

I did have separate tool cover with A-Plan, but stopped it years ago, as the cost became too high, but I still have pub liability/employers with them.
If you could pm me the number, I will give him a go, thanks

I've got up to £5000 cover. I added it on to my public and emploee liability and it only cost an extra £25 a year! I called them last week to tell them the tools are in a new van and they said its covered in any van I own.
