Hi new to the forum so hello to everyone, I purchased today some loose lay kardean and have been preping my floor but even with my ply down on the floor because the floor is so uneven the vinyl doesnt sit right just wanted to know that because the back off them are different and have ridges on them are they still ok to be glued down?

    Many thanks

Although the product is called Looselay..... It is now recommended that you stick it down with tackifier. Kinda defeats the point of the product not to mention it's name.

If your floor isn't completely flat it will look cr@p, stuck down or not.
Rubbish product IMO, not fit for purpose.

But wont putting ply down give you a flat surface ive laid quite a few kardean floors stuck down on ply through the years and never had a problem, used to be in the trade but not any more that was just a public price .

Sticking kardean on ply wont give you any problems if done correctly BUT sticking looselay Karndean down on a sheet of glass will still 90% of the time give you hassle! The product is rubbish

Depends how bad the subfloor is and how thick the ply is!

Has anyone fitter any recently. I've had loads of problems but it's now made differently. The backing is slightly different and it's much heavier. Looked ok when I see it but haven't fitted it yet

I went into the shop I do work for this morning to pick up materials for nextweeks job and he keeps asking me why I wont fit it. I told him the same as Ive always and that is im not taking any chances with it as it'll be me that has to go back even though he keeps stressing that karndean say 'it'll be ok as long as your fitter tackifies it round the perimeter"....yeah right whatever, id rather fit jumpax and paint it wood effect!

When did u receive the product. We had the rep come in a few weeks ago with the new stuff. He said anything bought now is the new product. It did look better but if your having problems now then that sucks lol

This was a labour only job.
Customer got it off the Internet last October.
It was in the house 3 days before fitting. Stuck the lot on tackifier and it's gapped everywhere! !!
No direct sunlight or heating pipes under the floor.
I've told them it's not a fitting issue and they disagree.
Giving me 28 days to sort it out or their taking me to court !!

We've done hundreds of square meters and nearly had problems with all of it. Costing us lots of money. The only jobs with haven't had and issues is when it's gone onto chip board with and without tackifier. Everywhere else nothing but problems.

It looks a lot better now but we are reluctant to sell any. I'd defo give it ago with new stuff and see what happens.

Surely the customer knows there was no gaps to start with. Send them somewhere they can read about how crap it is

Get sid to make you a report, say to customer that if he finds in your favour they pay his fees if he finds in their favour you will pay fees and rectify the problem, can't say fairer than that, and if it goes against them and they still take you court then you have a report which will hold up!
