Hi I wonder could anyone give me some advice please. I have an old concrete floor in my garage that has no damp proof membrane and allows moisture to rise up during long spells of rain i think I have amanged to sort this by applying two coats of Larsens DPM which seems to be a great job.

Sorry my question is if I now use a self levelling floor compound can that be my finished floor (maybe with a coat of floor paint over the top)

Only if you use something like Stop gap 800
Most levelling compounds would be unsuitable

A resin would be more hard wearing than painting

Thank you I will have a look at that. Would it be suitable to lay a heavy duty vinyl flooring straight onto the self levelling compound instead? (there will be no vehicle traffic, foot only)

I'm not aware of that brand of dpm tbo I would have used Ardex 1C dpm then yes why not install a heavy duty vinyl ie safety flooring

i would go with a resin floor as well in a garage.I'm not sure on the DPM you have used but I've used ardex DPM 1 c with success which doesn't require a physical DPM in place with added na over the top then you can install a commercial vinyl like Polyflor.

If you're going to have a covering over the leveling compound ie vinyl or rubber you wouldn't need to use stop gap 800 that's only if your painting it
