Hello I have a customer who wants to put a wooden floor in her through lounge. I was going to go for an oiled engineering flooring but not sure which one would be the best as some i have seen seem to scratch and dent easy which i know is unavoidable but are there any which are a bit bettter wearing? Is lacquered better than oiled for wearing?Or would a good quality quickstep laminate be a better choice but it does not have as good an appearance as an engineered board. Thanks Dogsbody
Could look at a uv oiled or a brushed matt lacquer. Both have the oiled look but are a little easier to maintain. Quickstep is bulletproof but a completely different product to real/engineered wood.
Hello Merit Thanks for the reply, i would probably go for the lacquered floor as i would have to lay it with some of the furniture in the room so would need pre finished. Which brand of engineered wood flooring is good probably a clic system. Thanks Dogsbody
If you're client is going for a clic engineered, make sure the sub-floor is as flat as possible to avoid deflection potentially resulting in excessive creaking. Clic engineered floors can be a nightmare for creaking and of course it's always the installers fault..
Hello, I like to suggest oiled engineering flooring. It can be installed directly over a concrete substrate that is clean, flat, dry and structurally sound.
