Ive just got my hands on a old type 110v 16amp Wolff floor buffer 160rpm (wirble machine), brand new the guy only used it a couple of times he says it didnt rub screed down ive plugged it in at home and it starts off slow but then speeds up and seem to work well but ive used a red pad to clean not a sanding disk.

As anyone had any problems with these machines on site? im running it at home off a 3.3kv transformer and it works, ive been told is should be used with a 5kv transformer would this give the machine more power?

i know the electric on site can sometimes be on the weak side could this be why he said it didnt rub screed down and not a fault with the machine?

depends on how many people are on the same power source.
You need to be on your own socket with it.

the discs are all the same, it's the coupling that comes with it that needs to be correct.
and yes I can.. red wine lovely

i`ve got some of those, and they have no problem on the motor side. Even when plugged into a trani used for other stuff, they are normally good.
I would say, it could be a 240v machine, with a 110v plug.
Check the sticker on the machine, and see if its a real 110v

its got the 110v sticker on it and a german 110v made plug, its worked well at home for me at the minute im running it through a 3.3kva trani it starts off slow but then gets to full speed after 30 seconds and a wiggle of the handle, the guys who repair the wolff machines at hull said its the old wirbel machine that wolff got to make for them and should be run off a 5kva trani but i may get away with 3.3kva, i paid £250 and its brand new

Thats the same as my first one, ye a 3.3 can run it if all you use is the sanding pads, but in all honesty you need the 5kva to do the proper job, esp if you running copper discs, diamonds segments etc otherwise the second it comes under load it trips everything.

It's made by wirbel for wolff apparently if you look at the new samba machine it's identical to the new wirbel, I've rang tech up and that's what they said, guy who I bought it off is a floor layer and he said he bought it brand new 6 years ago used it once but it kept tripping electrics and juddering but he were using a 3 kva so from what your saying I definitely need the 5kva trani to get the best out of it.
