Just been to measure a school and the floor in places is 90% or above im wanting to lay polysafe the old vinyl has been laid n stuck to a membrane that is loose as always there trying to get the price down but don't no much about membranes or the price of them r they cheaper than normal dpms the room is 150 m2
just had person from the school in and they dont want to pay for dpm they said they would sign a disclamer if i laid on the damp floor wot do u think ? shall i just walk away ? not short of work at the moment so dont need the job but its still a good payer
As Neil says dont bother with it. Its happened to most of us. So you lay the vinyl, 3 months later it starts to lift and they're not going to be on the phone to you?? Yeah right. Tell them if they want the job doing properly then you'll do it, if not then wave goodbye
I walked away from a school 2 years ago. No DPM under all corridors. They wanted wood fx. I told the school they need a DPM sandwich the headteacher said it don't and I can screed over the 9x9 tiles. I then lifted a carpet tile an showed her the damp on the damp which said was due to the cleaner using a carpet cleaner. Lol I walked away. It got done by someone and is all bubbling an loose I was tool by a mate who works for the council. If you can't do it right don't risk doing shite.
A disclaimer isn't worth anything in court...... Always follow the code of practice set by manufacturers which states clearly if rh is above 75% some Dpm is needed. A disclaimer will simply be thrown back at you by any judge as British standards are there to be followed
