I've got a 38 sqm area that needs levelling from 40 mm down to 3 mm ready for carpet tiles. Wondered how you lads would do this ? I'm using renovation as mapei tech said it can go to that depth and I normally pin a bit of wood to the correct thickness and pour till its covered then work down.
if for ramping down I used to do it with chippings and green bag then top coat. but used to always end up with dwells last time worked my way down with timber from highest level then every metre going down to existing then chippings and green bag then skimmed the whole lot. worked really well but took ages to do it
You can't ramp down Thicker the screed more it flows so it will flow down The only way us up Plus how can you take a mix with chippings down to 3mm
Use chipping to create the ramp then final coat to skim off so go down to maybe 7 mm with the chips then ramp of with the green bag. but as I said always had trouble with what you said it still tries to find its own level.so when I battered out worked fine though wad going 1 bag to 3/4 chippings so had less of it running away. Unless there is other smoothing compounds which are more suitable for ramps as I'm from a f ball world and have not used many others but surely working upwards will still cause the same problem as of down as it will find its own level regardless. interestedd to know what others would do. before they changed green bag you could do a lot more with it now its great for smoothing but not so much for dealing with height differences. .
