We have just moved into rented accommodation and I tried to use our steam mop on the downstairs floor, not knowing that it was waxed and not varnished. The steam has melted the wax and left large streaks all over the floor of re-hardened wax. It comes off with my nail and the wood doesn't appear to be damaged at all, but how do I fix this without having to scratch the whole lot off with my nail? And how do I restore the area to match the rest of the floor? I only did one strip down the side of the room before realising what was happening. Please help, I'm extremely worried about this because it's a rental house and need to fix it immediately. I'm in full panic mode and don't know what to do!

Firstly don't ever stream a wooden floor no matter what the vax adverts tell you ! You will need to employ a sanding and sealing guy in don't try and do it yourself. pay cheap pay twice !!
