Received an email on Sunday cancelling the 3 day job we had booked in for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The organisation are very good customers, and have previously given us at least £10,000 worth of business in the past couple of years with the promise of around the same amount already surveyed and quoted for in the future. They decided at the last minute to carpet the area instead of restoring the lovely oak parquet in 3 large offices. I took the opportunity to get all the office admin up to date and got my lads to give the kit a good look at (machine cleaning, chisel sharpening etc). We also did a thorough stock-take and cleaned out any unwanted stuff. It was a great feeling when we started again on Thursday as we don't usually get the chance to catch-up with everything. It would be nice to know what other contractors do when the same thing happens to them. Would you just pack up and go down the pub? or try golf? Go-cart racing? Fishing? etc etc etc. Regards, Bob
First id be raging...then calm down, give the van a good clean, tidy my lock up, catch up on paperwork.....then hit the gym ooooosh!!!!.....IF i could get away with it that is but ive always got something to fall back on or a 'those little jobs' to pull in, very rare I get let down tbh but when it has happened there is always some other job that needs sorting!
Days off....... I'm still in the fire service, (4 days on 4 off) then 3-4 days flooring on days off... :-(
