Hi guys. Just wondering got a fairly new bolster but it leaves like black marks on white painted skirtings worser ingredients what's the reason for this n how to sort it ? I've also got a plastic bolster I've been using but it hurts my wrist after a week of using it lol. Many thanks
What do you use to tuck ? I find the bolster is the easiest to tuck with and makes the actual carpet that's tucked look neater
Not sure what a speedcat is mate link it ? And I guess tucking knife you mean lino knife ? I have been using it sometimes . Seems to take twice as long tho
Not if your hooking everything on first Then just wizz down the walls with the speedcat Tucking knife is for in the corners and door arcitraves
I use a Lino knife/tucker everywhere and can go as fast as my mate who uses a bolster (stair tool) once you get used to it you will get your speed back, never marked a skirt with my tucker
I will try just the bolster seems to have more weight and be able to leave a better finish as it's easier to tuck with it. I'll have to tuck lino knife for a while see how I get on... spacey I normally stretch it and hit it on the pins then fold it back on itself still on the pins and cut from I guess the side with a strait blade.
lol at 6 inch nails... Something i certainly dont miss about New Zealand is up until about 15 years ago, Carpet Fitters were still turning and tacking (i believe some still do) but not with nails, oh no thats way too much hassle. They used 20 mm wire staples. Great fun trying to rip up a 20 year old loop pile thats been stapled every inch
A good alternative to a lino knife is a carpet awl. super fast and tidies up any 'tailies' at the same time.
Speedcat and lino knife for me these days.....but as said above the base of the speedcat has to be flat on the gripper or the wheels can leave marks.
Tucker can mark too , speedcat is ok on thinnish carpet , but not great on thicker stuff . Bloody matt finished skirtings grrr
