Gas pipes

    Is there a legal requirement for them to be so far under the floor, can find any certain information on them.

    Best practise is same as water pipes isnt it, circa 55mm below surface of floor, its lazy builders/gas engineers as to why they are shallow as they dont fancy channelling out the floor properly.

    I haven't no, but one of the guys went through a gas pipe when he was putting gripped down. Pipe must have only been about 4mm from the surface.

    Trying to find a law that says it has to be a minimum depth to help us out.

    found on plumbers forum, pipe width plus an inch

    taken from the relevant BS (6891 i think) a gas pipe laid in concrete must be corrosion protected and covered by minimum 25mm screed so the depth of the channel depends on the pipe diameter and the thickness of the corrosion protection
