We have three large dogs who are pretty lazy in the house (i.e. no tearing about or playing inside the house) and we want to go for lvp flooring as one of them is elderly and slightly incontinent at times - which rules out laminate flooring.

How does lvp stand up to dog claws? And what's the quality like of the lvp plank style products? Looking for something I can fit myself (pretty ok with diy - fitted lvt tiles to bathroom floor and did a pretty good job - still looks good many years later despite shower pump flooding bathroom floor this Xmas!)

    TIA.

Texture weathered surface would be a good bet, registered embossed to help give it character, mid ranged oaks work well to hide scratches, dark or light goods effect lvt's will show anything and everything. Buy a maintenance kit with your lvt floor and providing any scratches are only surface scratches they will disappear when you use the kit.

I've got 2 large American Bulldogs., and a brute of an English Bulldog.., we have Karndean all down stairs (textured plank), and there's hardly a mark on it..

Hi. You need commercial grade LVT/LVP wear lear minimum 0.55mm There are many cheaper makes like Deco tile 55. I had problem with loose lay tiles for a kitchen and the owner having dogs too. The urine from them went true the tiles and i had trouble. We changed the floor with Altro 3mm and my customer is very happy with this strong floor!

Thanks Profflooring -we are looking for planks rather than tiles. I have to say I am getting really confused now as so many different types of flooring!

I wouldn't use Altro unless you want your home to look like a commercial kitchen

Luxury vinyl tiles, luxury vinyl planks, design floors all the same........or most commonly known as 'karndean' plenty better tho distinctive and amtico are manufactured to a much higher spec, pure products, not recycled and made up of anything in the factory

Definitely don't want our living/dining space to look like a commercial kitchen! We won't use anything without viewing a sample first, as I would rather live with what we've got (a terrible carpet!) than go for something that we regret.

The customer was want it the strongest floor. This thick Altro strong hold looks better then the normal one, but is near twice more expensive whit sparkles and is much stronger wear lear then any Karndean or any LVT/ LVP. It was glued with Altro 19 epoxy adhesive on Ardex NA screed on under floor heating. My customer was wanted the strongest floor option for his kitchen and he has 3 dogs.

Yeah TGI Fridays have Altro stronghold in their kitchens. If your dogs pissing on the floor so much you need to use epoxy adhesive then fair enough lvt probably isn't the best option lol
