Hi guys. I'm having a bit of difficulty explaining to my boss about the difference between rapid 400 and microcoat 500. Specifically on ply. I know that u have to feather joints with 500 or equivalent because it's flexible. He wants me to use 400 rapid because one of his other fitters has used it for years on ply and its fine. Iv have refused and its caused a rift. Am I being a little girl about this or should I stick to my guns. Thanks in advance guys.
I don't use those particular products but if it's not a feather finish/micro coat it's not right. If I was you I would just buy my own tub and Bill them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah. I prefer the ardex feather. But the shop is paying. So we get what we are given. They was using that instarmac feather it for a bit. They were dark days. I'm sure rapid repair is the complete opposite of what I need tho. Wouldn't it break up in the joints and cause death lines?
It's not hard to explain Tell your boss to read the bucket If he can't read tell him to ring Fball technical
Think I'm fighting a losing battle on this one. He thinks he is right. And you can't argue with stupid. Is there an emoticon for banging your head against a wall on here. Lol.
Don't do the work....If there is an issue the finger could easily be pointed at you for using the incorrect product..
Check this then, i know of a subby who uses his back to front...feather on concrete and A45 on his ply joins ...anyway why was 'instarmac' dark days?? I use feather it and ardex feather or the microcoat when theres a free bucket going
Wow. That's pretty special. Lol. Instarmac feather it is a bit Sandy I suppose. It's not that bad. Rubs down ok. Was just a pain having tiny tubs and we could only order it if we bought a pallet of levelling with it. Working. In Brighton, 80% is ply. Really sucks. Just slightly off topic, do u use 6mm or 9mm ply on floor boards? Had a nice shiny Karndean woodplank on 6mm today and it really don't hide much.
All depends on the condition of the floorboards really, 90% of the time its 6mm... Nic and sandy, less effort for the stone ha! Totally opposite to the father coat from bostik ohh my lord, shoulder seshion or what. 80% ply is a bummer, mixing station and a sandwich for me
I only use SP101 and the 9mm is expensive. So if floor boards are cupped I sometimes screed them 1st flat and sand them Then 6mm ply. But mostly ply and fibre screed On tapatalk HD
6mm ply and fibre screed is the best unless your going over chipboard or flat floorboards. 6mm doesn't hide much in the light Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
