Went to a new site todayou for a new firm. Huge building works being carried (won't say where and who contacted us) but the floors were at best atrocious!! Vinyl with more bumps and bubbles than an aero bar. It was unreal.

The floorlayers before had came in and smashed out all the meterage, barely touched on the welding, what bits were done were nasty/shocking. Welds almost an inch wide and as straight as a snake. Felt embarrassed to be near the floors that were laid incase other trades thought it was me. We promised the firm that we would carry out a few days of repair work/snags and we will honour what was promised but I don't think I'll be hanging around for too long there if that's the accepted standard of works. Rant over

And if I remember, I'll post some pics of the bubbles and welds for everyone on here to have a chuckle

Ive seen that a million times before.
Its a pet hate, when I use to get sent to sort out shit like that, and the site agents have always been promised that you can get it sorted.
Daz is exactly right, some contractors just use the cheapest quote, and its true 'pay peanuts, get monkeys !'
I have been lucky and found a few main contractors who appreciate they have a pay a little more, to get the right finish.

Guys like that will always get the big area`s on the floor, and leave the cupboards, toilets, welding, stairs get it invoiced and run.
The contracts manager should have seen that though, and put a stop to it.

Contract manages only think the sun shines out of the arses of a new team that comes in tears the arse out of a job for peanuts. They short sightedly think they are saving the boss money and adding to their bonuses until the first tug .Then it all unravels fast and becomes expensive to put right or it has to be replaced.

It was a joke. An absolute state. I'm sure most fitters turn up and do maybe a few days then think sod this I'm off. This was the first the job the company wanted us to do and I can see why most fitters ain't willing to stick around to do the odds and sods. Gotta take the rough with the smooth in this game tho sometimes huh
