Hi guys, I've got an engineered install to do on an old concrete subfloor that has no dpc. Haven't taken moisture readings yet but wondering if others usually put down a DPM as a precaution even if readings are ok? I'll be floating the floor over an underlay. Cheers
If the underlay is the type that is designed to provide a barrier then you should be ok, personally if it was top end engineered I would install a sandwich dpm but depends on the readings above 87% I certainly would
Ohhh no dpc . asking for trouble. I would put a liquid dpm after taking readings. Rather be careful from start then costing you a fortune in future.
Ok thanks guys, was planning on putting a dpm down but wanted to check if that's what others usually do when there's no dpc. Looking at some fairly pricey engineered so don't want to be ripping it up if it gets ruined.
Don't even test it mate just dpm it. Sometimes you get a dry reading on floors with no dpm. But when a floor is laid and it's not breathing then moisture can built up and lift the floor. On tapatalk HD
Yeah makes sense, now you mention it I I think that's what Matt said when I did one of his courses last year- clearly wasn't listening closely enough
Use dpm to be safe. Best way: Arditex NA then dpm Ardex and Arditex NA and you are secure 99%. Just the bad thing are the cost and labor. Mamei is cheaper. www.services.profflooring.co.uk
