I do some sub contract work for a small store in a quite deprived area, The store will sell anything to anyone and don't really care if the fitting is right or not,
The customers don't seem to care either as long as it's down and doesn't cost them too much, Now I get a low rate for fitting £2 a metre but I still like to do a professional job, I'm a bit old school. But I constantly find myself frustrated and get little job satisfaction.
Does anyone else have this problem?
After 34 years of fitting and being proud of my work I feel I've lost my way

Oh right then, carpet, vinyl, laminate, safety flooring, and lvt. Bit rusty on lvt as I don't get to fit many round here lol, I've got NVQ, fita assessed, for flooring and subfloor prep.
Done altro course, karndean although I'm going to do a few refresher courses.

Nice one mate. Contact Lee Watson at AW's Carpets in Radcliffe mate on 07779165625 . He's on the look out for quality fitters. He is very fussy though..
Can never do enough training. I've done Karndean Basic and Advanced, Amticos first course, Floorskills LVT2 which is a fantastic course done earlier this year. I also got my Nicf Master fitter in lvt this year too. I can fit carpets to a good standard ( i think:() but I'm doing Carpet level 1 and 2 at Floorskills in February. Also been on a few manufacturers subfloor prep and adhesive selection courses.

Cheers for that I'll give him a call, I should get on a few courses, the trouble is when you've been fitting for 34 years you loose a bit of drive if you know what I mean.
    Thanks for the help

Always new things to learn in my eyes though Chris. Ive only been fitting for 16yrs after being made redundant when i was 29. This forum put me in touch with some great lads and top fitters which helped me a lot. Doing courses helps my thirst for knowledge and I also do them so i can be one of the best or stand out in my area should i say. Plus if one of my kids wants to do flooring in the future i want them to have a good start in me training them.
Have a look at Floorskills for courses. I personally know some of the trainers there and they are second to none.
Floorskills is also having a open day on May 12th next yr with loads of manufacturers attending. Be good to see you there
