It seems I have an issue.. I fit one of the Karndean products back in September for a customer. It was a plank effect approximately 40m2 laid on ply wood with pressure sensitive adhesive. The planks were butted up perfectly, however the customer has contacted me to say many of the planks now have a gap at the ends. It was a warm day (maybe 20C) but I dont feel that it was hot enough for the planks to have expanded? Clearly something has happened and I have never come across this before so I am unsure what to advice the customer? Is there a specification allowance for gaps appearing (expansion/shrinkage) when laid or after with this product? Is there an acceptable gap filling product I could us? I would be prepared to replace certain planks or rows but if the gaps are frequent then this might not be possible? I would appreciate any help and guidance on this..
LVT pressure sensitive always stays like goo on the floor, it is great if the product is not prone to shrinkage, if it is, it will just let it shrink. I dont touch Kardean, it is not the product it was, had an issue with knight tile where in new build, it did the same and shrunk, all except one kitchen where I ran out of their goo and used 44, that stuck like the proverbial to a blanket and did not move. They will blame the fitter, they always do, which is why I stick to firms products that do hold their hands up and say sorry.
Nope, I predominantly fit amtico so will use in the main amtico sf (similar to f44) and will use their ht extra (basically ke66) anywhere where it will/might need it, I dry fit with the ht extra and lay it in wet but fit as normal on the sf in open areas and dry fit then stick trickier areas such as wc/bathrooms etc
Uzin make karndean universal which is Ke66 (old formula) Fball make karndean PS and HT Fball make PS for Moduleo too its the same as the stuff for karndean
Like spacey said it's only universal which is uzin, hence why it's their only decent adhesive, their ps which is made to their formula they supply to fball (which they told me on the tour of factory) is crap like the bulk of their products.
