Hi guys. I had some carpet fitted today, however in each of the rooms, on one side where the carpet goes under the skirting/onto the gripper the pile seems to 'split'. See pictures. Is this normal or is it the result of incorrect fitting? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No thats not normal From a glance I'd say incorrect grip spacing and it's been tucked without being hooked on the spikes correctly ? Do you know what type of backing your carpet has ?
Hi spacey, thanks for your fast reply. The carpet is Brintons bell twist. The technical specification sheet states the backing material as 'Polyester, Polypropylene, Jute, Conductive Latex with superior film-strength properties or suitable materials' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats a very nice carpet you've picked I'm guessing the carpet was very cold when fitted to crease like that Imo it needs refitted when it's aclimatised to your rooms temperature Obviously just speculation from what I can see in the pics as we can't see the prep underneath also
Thanks spacey for your insight into this, they've only completed half the job so far so I will speak to the fitter in the morning. Hopefully it's something he was going to finish off still. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cool hope it gets sorted Don't be to harsh on your fitter Carpets can be like bell metal this time of year and the pressure is on them at this very busy time of year
Hi there..... Bell twist is a woven product so there is naturally more stretch in the length and it looks like simple opening of the pile on the loom. Like spacey says might just want the gripper adjusting and a quick restretch...... A carpet of this quality I would allocate my fitters a bit more time and money as it needs to be fitted well and with care. Once vacuumed did it regain its composure as that could be what it is also
