On a job today doing some carpet tiles and was speaking to another fitter and he's got a job coming up that has had the Gypsum curse so hes sanding it down to rid the latence, waiting for it to dry then MVS 95 all over NO SCREED (because he said the floor is smooth as) and fitting lvt straight on it!....he reckons he does it all the time, fits straight to dpm ....am I missing something here because I told him there has to be a 3mm coat of screed over the dpm to,protect the layer yet he says you dont. Never heard of it myself
Also I was under the assumption that Uzin are the only ones that guarantee (if you want to call it that) there dpm over calcium/gypsum based. I know fball state it on their spec sheet that they advise their product cant be used over gypsum based. Im pretty sure ardex said same.
While I was quiet with my own work, at the start of this year, I jumped on with another firm. One guy there was scraping up, rolling 121 primer, and fitting straight on it too. It was only cupboards, not rooms, and did look ok to be fair, but no direct sunlight, and who knows how long it will last
I never dpm Anhydrate Grind the top off not just sand the latience Then it has a good chance of drying quickly and if UFH which there usually is wack it on to force dry it normally two weeks Prime it watered down twice then a neat coat and suitable compound usually 110
Agree with spacey...... shouldn't need to dpm if it's installed correctly and heating is commissioned. Grind back to sound solid dense surface then prime and latex with a recommended product
