    Hi,

I'm just about to spend a fair bit of money on a parquet floor and really want to do the best DIY job possible. The blocks are 350mm by 70mm solid 22mm thick blocks which are 'tumbled' and prefinished with oil, but otherwise new. I'd like to lay them in herringbone pattern going right through to the edges. I've never laid a parquet floor before. Any tips or pitfalls to avoid?

    Thanks so much

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was afraid you might say that. It's just the cost really. I love the floor but don't really have the budget for it . If you really don't think that DIY is doable to a good standard, then I might have to rethink my options... No one knows any really cheap parquet flooring fitters in London do they?

    Thanks

    Chloe

ask about for a pole or romanian etc plenty of them in london and you will get a cheap job not sure how long it will stay down for mind, otherwise sorry but you will be paying a fair amount to get it fitted correctly.

If you love the floor so much, wait until you've got the money to get it fitted correctly because it's tumbled and pre finished any mistakes cannot be rectified by mass filling and sanding.Which part of London are you from?
