I am looking at getting 49.90 sq metres of Amtico Signature Parquet flooring fitted, I am getting the quotes together this week and they vary a fair bit. All of the companies are on the Amtico website so are legit. One of them is a good bit cheaper but is saying they wont do a Feather Finish as they find it can cause moisture is this true and is it a good way to get the flor done. The floor is a mix of floor board and chipboard and they are planning on 9mm SP101 ply.
What a load of rubbish missing out the feather is a definite no I wouldn't use them. All the seams of the ply boards should be feathered minimum so the joins don't show through the floor covering I normally go over them twice or if necessary the whole board may needs feathered. Sp101 is exterior ply and the moisture from the feather will not affect it. Cheap Chinese ply however quite often delaminates when it feathered. Have you looked at Amtico Form parquet it's quite a bit cheaper thand the signature and looks great

They said they won't feather finish at all as they say it will cause moisture.... that's all they have said. They also said they do loads of new builds and never feather finish any of them. All work quality checked by major housebuilding firm

Well I suppose its buy cheap you get cheap...id seriously think about sacking them off and getting someone 'proper' in to do the job. Cant believe they dont even feather the joints! Cheap as cowboys in my opinion
Why pay good money for a good product only to be installed by inexperienced so called fitters? over 80% of issues come from inadequate installation leaving you with a rubbish installation and problems that will follow. And when that happens you usually have a hard time getting in touch with them again.
