Evening chaps. Been fitting lots of vinyl recently cap and cove. After 20 years I'm finally getting to the point where F60 is no longer wanted. Even with lots of ventilation today was a killer. Client didn't like the smell either. I've used a few spray systems but they popped off the wall within a year. What's the favourite at the moment? Is the Gekko one any good? What's it like on top of decent walls that have been painted to the floor? Need priming?

    Cheers

Rewmar Ltd, the makers of Flexyfix, have just released a new product called Cap & Cove. It is a tube applied adhesive . You apply a 3mm bead to either the wall or the trim(not both). Whichever you find easiest. It's fast and cost effective, with no plasticer issues which is what is causing the trims to "pop off the wall within a year", We have seen this with a number of the new products released to fill the gap being left by F60. Rewmar Cap & Cove also gives you a waterproof seal and is anti-fungal which is great in wet rooms, kitchens & hospitals.

It's an interesting product because they are changing the way you work (again) by not putting the adhesive on all surfaces. i.e. With the Cove Former you only glue it to the wall, not the floor(there is no need and it's a waste of adhesive & money), and with the Capping strip you only apply the adhesive to the topmost edge. You get in excess of 40 linear meters from each tube and it will not need a primer.

Quantum Profiles Systems, who have tested and endorsed it, will be showing it at the Flooring Show in Harrogate.

We use F61, as we are often installing to showers and changing rooms, which are in use 24hrs 365. I`ve yet to find anything which comes anywhere the bond strength.
We did use an Uzin product which was 'ok' in the summer, but hopeless in the cold.

F49 for the vinyl. Not cheap per job though.

Spray Contact adhesive. To the wall and Coving... Ziggy tape the wall.... fit cove.... Ziggy tape the capping. Fit to wall... Now all cap coving set up... ... Now ziggy tape cove former.... Now jam floor.... Install vinyl.... Now pull back vinyl. Remove ziggy tape film.... And fit... Great fit every time like a pro...
