Hello all can some1 explain the reason some of you prime on top of screed before glue also do you do it on ply
Ok cheers, can you use 700 superflex on floorboards inbetween ply where floorboards dip down to make smooth? (Hope that makes sense)
You can use a latex screed to pack the dips then overlay with min 6mm wbp plywood screw fixed 100/150mm centres with ring nails. Depending on the type and manufacturer of the flooring adhesive, it maybe necessary to prime the plywood otherwise you may have issues with adhesion but check with your adhesive supplier.
You won’t have problems with adhesives on ply wood !!! Unless the floorboards are really bad there’s no need to pre scree 9mm ply will sort out most wooden floors just make sure your fixing go through the centre of the board Good idea to make little marks on the top of the ply so you know where the boards are. Full feather if needs if not just the ply joins is fine
So your saying smooth it out first then ply on top?, what compound would you use on the floorboards then?
Theres just 1 spot on the floor where the floorboard weirdly dips down the ply will just follow it, or could I just ply it all then smooth that bit out with feather maybe
We would.normally use sx300na if the floor boards are bad before overlaying with plywood and if using an acrylic adhesive we would prime the plywood.
You be better off 6mm ply and then use a flexible levelling compound to level the floor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ensure the floorboards are secure, any bad dips to the boards use a latex underlayment ie sx300na to fill and then overlay with 6mm marine grade plywood screw fix with ring nails. Use a feather finish compound for joints and screw heads and rub down. Install the lvt. Google the contract flooring association and there is guidance for timber floors.
