Can anyone identify this & how to remove it?

I managed to remove a few tiny few pieces with a 1500W SDS chisel but it took an age.

Although it looks like concrete nothing seems to crack it apart.. they mostly just sink in.. and then go through the wood subfloor!

It's also full of nails inside the material itself hidden beneath the surface.

It almost looks like red concrete poured over white rubber/concrete with nails stuck inside.. but maybe I'm wrong!?

I'm running out of ideas on how to remove it :D

    Thanks

strange.. I had it tested for asbestos & it came back clear. Could they have been wrong about it?

had a look online at magnesite & it seems you're probably right, it does look a lot like it! And it matches all the descriptions. Assuming the asbestos test I had done was accurate & it doesn't contain it.. How would I remove this magnesite flooring?

You need to get a flat chisel or breaker underneath it - if it's on wood it should come up fairly easily. Please be sure it doesn't contain any asbestos.

I have the certificate here that it's asbestos-free.. given what you're saying maybe I should get another few samples tested for asbestos.

I'm using a powerful hepa air purifier, mask & vaccuum.

If I use a circular saw to cut it into squares, roughly 10% of it pops off with a flat chisel, but 90% leaves a 5mm rock hard residue. I managed to remove a square 15cm x 15cm in about 10 minutes using a circular saw, chisel & hammer..

If anyone has any other ideas let me know. I'm considering getting a flush undercut saw if I can find one, that would be a hundred times faster !

update: apparently the test for magnesite is that it glows under a naked flame. This stuff doesn't glow, so it seems it's not magnesite after all? Surprised me as it really looks similar to the pics of it online. It seems I have everyone stumped with this floor ! :Do_O
