Who feathers the whole plywood or do you just do the joints Today I had to take a tile up I was laying on uzin 2000s. I had just done the joints on this job. The tile was hard to get up on ply section but on feather bit really easy as it pulled the feather off the plywood. Thoughts ?
Mostly use 9mm ply and feather seams only Floor has to be bad for 9mm not to sort it out If the ply is flat feather is only needed to smooth the transition between boards plus adhesives stick better to ply than feather regardless if it’s primed
It doesn’t help Feather like adhesive sticks better to ply Also depends on the make of feather but adhesive sticks better to ply than any feather
Seams only for me u less it’s sheet going down then feather the lot. I tend to buff the feather on large areas and it’s solid, but if smaller areas gotta watch pulling it off, generally with an ‘older’ pad on the sander it Sheens it up so less chance of pulling skim up I find. 888 is the mutts nuts of skim tho, best gear imo
Only feather joins and twice. Rarely needs full coat now the ply has improved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Normally joints but only hit them once unless needed more. What do you guys use to make feather dry faster? We normally use a fan but still sometimes takes forever to dry ? Any advice? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I feather joints twice, only ever primered a whole ply fit twice. I use 888 or ardex feather. Tend to use 6 or 9mm but sometimes screed over lot if its pretty bad.
Must take forever waiting for the second coat? What do you use to fasten the dry times? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Is that a joke? Never heard of this before! Newbie here I guess!? I’ve allways waiting untill it’s completely gone off (light grey) rubbed down, then fitted on. Such a time waste, Tell me more! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Does that mean dry fitting . Or you even glue on top of still touch dry? Interesting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I do dry fit so it’s normally pretty dry by the time I’m glueing but if trowel doesn’t damage it it’s good to go Actually says that on the back of Ardex bag
With plyboard I always feather twice. Tip: Do a slightly thicker mix on the joints first, then go over the whole lot with a wetter mix.. makes a perfect finish for an extra 10 minutes work. Ardex feather finish is the business. Also if you haven't already get yourself to B&Q and pick up a fan, it will dry your feather/adhesives a lot faster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
