Hiya, My missus has been to a local carpet dealership as advised by some people in a previous thread I made. The guys are coming to measure up and quote on Tuesday. The missus has come back saying they were promoting this new carpet that doesn’t require underlay? I thought underlay was to make the carpet thicker and more pleasureable on the feet, is that not the sole case and it actually helps fitting? Is no underlay with these “new” (I bet they aren’t new) carpets an ok move to lower the cost or do you always advice underlay? Cheers
Lol sounds like a felt back. It’s not actually underlay, it’s just a fuzzy backing that sticks to the floor better with some glue in a can. Get a carpet with a action or hessian backing and underlay for better wear and comfort Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I said this to her, I guessed it would be the kind they use in like office blocks. Horrid for a home. Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it.
I would always go for proper carpet with an underlay that works best for the specific room i.e. denser for stairs/hall, more cushion in lounge/bedroom
