Fan works well to dry feather off

I've always feathered over the whole area. If you're only doing the joints what about all the indentations/holes left by the nails or screws?
I've got a fan but will use a heat gun if I've got one to hand, it definitely speeds up the drying process.

A fan will dry feather faster than a heat gun

For a fact tiles come out easier on feather no matter what you put it on, feather all the ply and if something needs replacing it falls out in comparision to stuck direct to ply, same-thing if you wash coat your screed with feather any replacement tiles come up no problem, the glue bonds to the feather which hasnt the same bond strength to the substrate, when on site tiles get damaged etc frequently so we regularly have to change tiles and or leaking bathrooms and its so much easier when theres feather under the tile to get it out with minimal damage to substrate

So it's better to feather the whole area then.
I've never had a floor fail because I'd feathered over the ply. And it seems there is the added bonus of the flooring coming up easier as well come replacement time.
Seems like a win win situation to me!

Yes I agree but I don't always keep the fan on the van due to its size so sometimes get caught out

Not sure a weaker bond is a good thing?

I agree , I only feather the joins plus I don’t trust feather with direct sunlight so don’t like the idea od skimming all the ply .
I’d like to hear test results from Daz , why not mix some feather with watered down feather Daz just for shits and giggles , u never know it might help the bonding to ply lol
