Hello guys Has anyone used or using Rated people or check a trader etc companies to get works from them? What is your experience and money wise? Are they able give you steady works or just fillers for days. Just wonder use them to get more contract from others. Any info appreciated Thansk
Rated people is for desperate times. It makes you price low as you don’t want to lose a job you’ve had to pay for! Not sure about checatrade it’s too expensive for me but I’ve heard it does work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How long you been in the game? I've never used or ever will use companies like check a trade etc, I know lads that do and most of the time moaning about them. Your work will speak for itself, get in with the right people and your on to a winner but sometimes you'll just have to stick with these big companies until your name/rep gets around. I've actually had people randomly come up to my van asking if I'm the karndean fitter because my name has got around and my reg plate is my name. First time it happened was outside a shop I fit for, guy was well sneaky. He went in to look at the karndean then come out and threw his card through my window and said ring me when you have a price lol but I don't take customers off the shop.
Thanks for tips Rugmunching I'm working as subcontractor basis for commercial companies since 2006. I've done maybe few domestic jobs since that. I'm sick and tired working for someone especially if they trying pinch money from you. You gave me some idea what to do and where to go. Thanks Pal
I started same way and majority of us probably did but if you want it then push yourself out there more, you have nothing to lose mate. I went on vista and got a load of cards/flyers done and just spread them out everywhere local and surrounding. I approached few builders, gave a load of cards to a few kitchen fitters/sparkys etc. It won't happen overnight but eventually it'll start coming in providing your work is up to standards. That vinyl you did on the stairs (though it wasn't my taste) speaks for itself with the right people. Just 'whore' yourself out When I used to contract I did enjoy it but then when they start saying about cutting rates, paying one way travel and sharing hotel rooms instead of having you own I thought sack this. Then when you getting paid a day rate to prep & fit 60m2 of lvt comparing it to what you could really earn if you was on a price or if it was you own job I just decided something has got to change so I went for it and wish I'd have done it sooner. I fitted amtico for one Asian guy in his new extension and this guy comes from a big community, I can honestly say I've had over 30 jobs just off this one guy through his cousin brothers mothers uncles brothers....sister cousin......uncle.....you get my drift get in with the right crowd and they're all over you mate.
Again thanks for all yours advices. Now I'm sure what I should do and push myself a bit more..like you say there is nothing to loose.
