Hi everyone, would anyone be able to lend some advice. I'm looking for a career change when my partner goes back to work in a year or so. I have seen I fita course here in Scotland that I would like to do as I have been interested in carpet fitting for a number of years. My question is how would one go about gaining employment, would it be best to go to a local carpet shop or something like tapi or carpet right and labour my way while learning the proper skills and gaining the experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Ian.
Do a course and try and be a boy for someone for at least a year depending on how in depth you want to go will depend on how long it takes, I'd say bare minimum you will need a year on crap money to get to the stage of being competent enough to do carpets to a decent enough standard and fast enough to be taken seriously by a shop, good luck though the money is good when you get to the point of being good and fast when the work is put in front of you, will take a few years to get to that point though
Thank you, I will try that. Rubbish money is nothing new with me always had minimum wage jobs. Should have got into it when I was a teen but thats the benefit of hindsight but what can you do.
