Is it ok to lay laminate over a hole in the floor boards upstairs? Had a water leak and the plumber had to remove part of the floor boards. The floor boards are the tongue and groove approx 6 inch wide long planks. The plumber had to fit some slightly chunkier elbow connectors to fix the pipes and it meant that the floor board wouldn't sit flush with the rest of the floor round it. The gap is 6 inches wide and about 12 inches long with the pipes underneath. Is it ok to lay laminate stright over the top of this gap in opposite directions to the width of it? The pipes would then be about an inch away from the underlay above it. So take a look at he picture but image only one length of wood not being there i.e. the left hand side board has been replaced as its got something to screw to. The right hand side has nothing as we couldn't lift enough flooring to get to the joist. Look at the picture the laminate boards would be fitted long ways left to right, would this be ok? Andy
But at the bottom there is nothing to put any wood on the pipes are at the top of the joist so nothing can go over the top and theres very little space at either side.
Get a plumber in to drop the pipes 50mm below as per building regs, you can’t touch it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You'll get a Batan straight across the centre Under lap it between the boards on each side and screw through the boards into the baton on each side then then you can sit the boards that have been cut out over the new batan If that makes sense
