DIY - what should I be looking for in a vinyl click plank floor? Thickness? Pros and cons. I guess thicker is more forgiving on floor imperfections. Wear layer? Seems sensible the deeper the better. What about brands? Any that are the "go-to" brand time after time? Avoid? I guess like most things you get what you pay for. Looking at probably approx £25 - £30 per m2, but I bet you can get rubbish ones for that price as well as good ones. Your wisdom would be appreciated!
Quickstep balance range is nice, easy to fit aswell. There's stacks to chose from... What design you looking for? Colours etc?
I have quickly realised there are stacks to choose from! Hence me wondering if any of the differences are important. White limed oak is the current favourite.
That's a long story! Covered on another thread here but basically I have two rooms knocked through, one has 18mm chip T&G, one has floorboards, and running off both of them is a newly screeded extension. So for the purposes of this thread assume that I have had it all professionally levelled across all three surfaces! (Which I think I am going to have to get done).
Quickstep all day long. Never had any issues with any installations using quickstep. Most of the others have crap locking systems that really need adhesive underlay. Also stay away from Moduleo clic if you have any direct sunlight as it will void your warranty Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The only click system LVT that isn’t a burn on site is Quickstep Livyn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Three votes for Quickstep then, thanks guys. I see that only has a 0.3mm wear layer and others go to 0.7mm, important? No big deal?
Id go with the higher wear layer personally but doesn't mean you have to. I just think the more bulletproof the better in the long run with it lasting....a mental thing
My logic too. In a way it seems strange that they even do different wear levels, unless it's a price thing: pay more for higher wear layer.
For a small family in a domestic environment 0.3 is fine....0.3 in a busy reception of a gym for example then that's where you need your higher wear layer.
I wouldn’t worry about wear later thickness with quickstep. It’s what the wear layer is made out of that matters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One thing I didn't mention that may have a bearing is that a large part of teh project is conservatory. Is sun-fading an issue?
Personally I haven’t seen a quickstep floor discolour in the sun so again I would go with them. I’m sure you could ask them direct the best range for your conservatory Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
