Does anyone know of any screed that will go over vinyl sheet? All manufacturers I have seen so far recommend that you shouldn't go over vinyl! Thanks in advance
In my earlier fitting days whilst training I first started flooring with a firm we used to have a large contract with an housing association and we had to screed over old marleys, sheet vinyl and even over the odd gypo cord carpet The firm were adamant that we were to not rip out so we used the old yellow bag ardixtex (the stinky ammonia stuff and never failed....BUT would I do it now....no chance! Rip it out or walk away, it ain't worth taking that chance and I certainly wouldn't risk my reputation.
If it's lvt you're laying on top and the floor is smooth and flat, it might be worth having a look at some of these sticky underlays
Only ever screeded over vinyl as a last resort. When its been a bastard to get up, even cutting into strips & using a 1" wide scraper, but have always primed it with pink primer before screeding it.
