So these are my three choices -

    Pro-Tek WPC
    Westex LVT
    Karndean Art Select

All have 0.7mm wear layer and I need something really hard wearing that can take water and lots and lots of punishment from kids dragging chairs, tables, etc

Pro-Tek requires less floor prep but is a click in product but is the most expensive in terms of cost psm.

Westex is a nice virgin LVT but is hard to get hold of and will require me to find an LVT installer

Karndean is Karndean lol, so you know what you are getting and they have approved suppliers.

    Any help how to decide?

Just be aware before you spend all that money, they will all scratch, no matter how thick the wear layer, so precautions must be taken, like felt pads on furniture, barrier matts to prevent stones and grit walking in. Manufacturers use words like durable and hard wearing, which can be a bit misleading, it just means it's not going to wear out quickly

They all require the same prep even the click systems

Thanks everyone, I was nearly sold on the Pro-tek after reading up on it but having no actual practical feedback.

So it's down to Westex and Art Select. Where do flooring guys tend to advertise? Checkatrade / Rated People / Which ?

Have a look at the NICF website. Lots of good fitters on there.

Try and avoid those websites if possible, the people who run them will take anyone on without verifying their competence. As Daz said try NiCF or any of the lads on here depending on where you live, if possible please get everything from the same place it does help massively if there are any problems.

As he said, getting it all done by the same place will give you the piece of mind that your whole job is guaranteed, yes you may save a few pounds buying online then finding a fitter, but you are still spending a lot of money on something which probably won't have the manufacturer warranty and although there are a lot of very good fitters, there is also an increasing amount of bad ones,so some sort of recommendation ,wether it be qualification or word of mouth is essential, or you could end up just throwing money down the drain

    Just outside Huddersfield.

I called up two contract / commercial outfits and one said £15m2 for fitting but they don't stock Westex or Karndean Art Select - would have to be one of their LVT - I believe it was polyflor.

The other outfit said the same thing but would not be able to give a cost to fit but did say they sold Moduleo by the bucketload and got it direct from the Manufacturer - £24 for Transform.

So now I am even more confused than before.

Was quoted for Transform, so no idea how that compares to Impress.

    Do you mean the following.

Well they did mention put the kitchen in first and then they would come fit the floor.

However reading up on here its best to get all the kitchen prep work done, then put down ply and screed , fit the kitchen then fit the floor.

I am not sure they want to split the job up.

My kitchen fitter has said he can do the floor, he is a brilliant tiler but the most I would ask him to do is fit click lvt but I dont want that. He could ply over the whole floor in prep for the lvt guys but would they fit over a subfloor they havent prepped?

All depends really but if I was to do the job I would want to prep it all myself, only takes one issue with flooring and if it's down to the prep then you wont have a leg to stand on as fitter will just tell you to jog on then the tiler will be saying its fitters fault bla bla bla....been there seen it.

A tiler and an lvt fitter are not the same thing so dont let your tiler attempt it. Let the flooring guys do the while lot for you from start to finish then IF there was to be issues then it's just the one trade you have to deal with.

Tbh a majority of the pro fitters will not fit on somebody elses prep for the above reason
