Had Karndean fitted by fitters from the company we purchased it from and am Not too happy with the install. Apart from edges of boards sticking up in places there are gaps where the inset strip has been fitted & the corners don’t look square. Also hump in floor between rooms & the inset strip is different colours. I have posted a few pics. Company are sending fitters back but not too impressed at the moment.

    Best curve I’ve seen that.
    Refund I’d be saying.
Was it is a karndean retailer?

I imagine it will be a fitter (of what, I'm not sure),that has gone to this company, claiming he is experienced in all sorts of flooring, but actually doesn't have a clue and the company has taken his word on it, i expect the company will be just as annoyed as you

I love all the effort they've made to the left side door border, looks like they cut that last triangle especially to hit you in the face...

Seriously though how can you walk away from that curve thinking "yeah that looks perfect, smashed it" . It looks like they free handed the cuts into the border

I cant wait to hear what they say when they return.
I think Peter Daley should record the whole convo and upload the file for us to listen to.

@Peter daley was you there the whole time from start to....well cant really say finish but you know what I mean and are you sure they were floorlayers?......and not labourers

Thanks for the feedback gents, in reply to some of the questions ,yes it was a Silver karndean retailer which I have since found out is misleading as I assumed it meant a sign of quality but in fact seems to be just the range they deal with.I wasn't there until it was almost complete.(which is probably a mistake on my part, I will know better next time). Will see what happens when they return.

Never in a million years are these guys floorlayers. Not even joiners would do such a bad job! #shocking

That's not the worst I've ever seen but not good enough, looks like somebody who has been thrown in deep end with border work who has never done it before, probably a self thought straightway fitter who gets away with it most of the time as most customers dont know what to look for.

The floor isnt smooth so most likely not level, he has done border first then field which is the harder way to do it and you need to be more precise with your cuts so no room for error, the bull nose (bottom step curve) isnt anywhere close to being good enough and I'm sure theres plenty more that could be pulled.

Give the company the oppotunity to put it right but they get one go, will involve a few new packs and a better fitter to do it to get it acceptable, otherwise it's a rip up and start again with a more reputable firm, lvt with borders is specialist work and should be done by a specialist

940C813A-EBB9-434A-814F-03B24946D0CE.jpeg Just an update to where we are now.
Fitter came back today & spent a full 8 hrs here.
He replaced loads of boards where they had been cut badly against the inset strip, looks a lot better now.
Also took up boards and sanded down the bit he screened in the doorway to alleviate the lump, this has also improved it.
The angle on the border has been redone but unfortunately is still not square & the curve around the bullnose has been redone but still does not look right to me.
Fitter doesn’t agree and has said to talk to the shop, which is what I will do on Monday.
Have attached a couple of pics, would appreciate knowing If I am being unreasonable, especially with the bullnose issue?

Please tell me you are NOT happy with that???

Borders look awful and that (what supposed to be a) curve is just unacceptable. I'll honestly say this that I wouldnt be happy for people to come in my house to see what supposed to be a nice new floor and be faced with what you have there...I'd be embarrassed tbh.

He spent 8 hrs you say?....was 6 of them on tea breaks? o_O

He obviously doesn't know what a proper job should look like, if he thinks that's acceptable, the sad thing is, he probably believes he's a good fitter

Well, spoke to the retailer today who says he hasn't got another fitter so if I can get someone to come in and do it he will foot the cost. Any takers? I am in lower Kingswood, Surrey.
