If you put a clic down on a u level surface it will come apart quickser than it was put down. It has a tolerance of around 3-4mm and then the joins will fail

Agree with what my colleagues say re click flooring and especially if your floor is not level don't even think of a click.

Thanks guys... but the consensus is to level with ply first, right?

I also found some minor black mould under the old ply, which is on the MDF that I want to lay new ply in. Any suggestions in what to do with it?

Should the MDF be replaced with ply, or can I lay the play on top of it?

It looks as though the ply could be fitted on top. Screw every 150mm and screed over the top of the ply.

Thanks. And do I just leave a gap between the ply and MDF where it’ll be uneven?

Leave a gap but fill it level with screed and then screed again over the full surface leaving you with a smooth area suitable for your LVT.

Yes, you can buy underlay from another brand to use under the LVT if the underlay is compatible with the type of LVT you're installing. LVT click systems typically require an underlay that provides cushioning, sound insulation, and moisture protection, but the underlay doesn’t always have to be from the same manufacturer as the LVT.

Ensure the underlay you choose is designed for LVT floors, as some underlays are specifically made for hardwood or laminate floors. You can often find cheaper options that still meet the necessary specifications for your LVT system. Just check the product details to ensure it suits your requirements!

I personally wouldn't use an underlay with Click LVT. It creates movement which puts undue stress on the engineers (joints). Almost every kitchen fitter installed failure I have been to replace has had a standard Laminate underlay under it. It isn't the same as a laminate floor the engineers are too delicate.
