    Hi all (again),

Can anybody please give me recommendations on an alternative for my Amtico Form Drift Oak e.g. https://www.amtico.com/flooring/products/product-search/FS7W9020/

The fitter is adamant that they are not cut straight and the bevel is inconsistent etc.

We chose this over others because it has an amazingly grippy texture (made the rest feel like slippy laminate in comparison). I could go up to Signature but haven’t found any matching styles and they don’t do the “Artisan Embossed Wood” surface.

Annoyingly, there is no consistency in the texture of any ranges, even the same design (e.g. Country Oak and Light Country Oak may have very different texture and not just the colour).

The closest I have found so far is Moduleo Impress Mountain Oak which wasn’t too bad colour wise and grip level / texture https://www.moduleo.co.uk/product/mountain-oak-56938

I previously ordered some Expona but it seemed very bland, perhaps I got the wrong range. Tiny samples also really don’t help.

I have looked at Harvey Maria and Distinctive online which look possible, but haven’t found them locally yet. Does anybody know which may suit the job.

    Any opinions always welcome

Whereabouts are you based? We've got the Aspect/Landscape stand for Distinctive in the showroom.

There’s actually a few Spacia colours similar to your original choice , at the end of the day it’s an embossed high texture u want so personally I’d say Spacia or form is the right choice , just get what you want , the fitter can under bevel one end of each plank (IF) they don’t join well , it takes about 5 seconds to do before he sticks a plank down

I think you need a less negative fitter and find someone who'll get on with it instead of moaning
Nothing is perfect a good fitter can sort it out and instill confidence in their client

Harvey Maria’s m series range was the first of its kind to have a rustic Finish, for me it’s best priced plank on the market, all the other brands have followed it.

Thanks, I emailed them yesterday and they suggested their natural plank as having the best embossed finish in miseries.

Thanks. The shop have just one amtico fitter though so that means forcing through a cancellation mid process and also getting somebody else to take over after the screed went down. Is that going to cause me another headache or will fitters be ok with that? The glue is partially down on one side as it wasn't 100 percent removed.
FYI, I haven't been an awkward customer, the fitter has been the one saying no. The shop wants him to finish it, he isn't keen. Allegedly I will need to sign something to say not their fault before they lay it which is obviously something that won't be happening.

Depending on how bad these tiles are then I'm with your fitter. They must be pretty bad for him to refuse to fit them unless he really is being super anal.

Its alright recutting the odd one but if the majority of them are bad then I cant see how Amtico would send them out and also the shop are pushing him to fit them to so surely they really are not that bad.

I dont care what anyone says you shouldn't have to go to the extent of spending an hr or 2 (or more if it's a big job) recutting/bevelling tiles unless you are doing bespoke work or getting paid extra for it

Has your fitter laid a good load of these planks out to show you?

The way I am seeing it is you are happy for him to lay the flooring so if they really are that bad and you've seen them then surely you are not happy with them either?

I laid a few out and saw the odd glaring issue on the end. This photo is from a month ago from me checking the effect of a box in my room (please note that I laid them and didn't exactly push them together in a professional manner. I literally laid them). I had to compress the image, apologies.

And no, he hasn't show me a batch laid out himself. I can only go on what he advises, which is that they aren't good enough (hence why I looked at alternatives). HE did say that Amtico said he could just cut them, but he didn't believe he should have to given the expense of the product.

Looks like next to nothing if anything at all

An awl or a blunt flat screw driver will close up any slight gaps in the headers

This will probably be more about the fitter not having enough time. Too many jobs at this time of year or being paid per m2 by the shop. It’s easy enough to recut as you fit but extra work that shouldn’t be needed.

This is the feeling that I got. He pretty much told me that he isn't paid enough per metre do waste time fixing an issue with the product. Obviously I paid for the full installation from one place and would expect it to be fulfilled. But there is no point having a fitter whose heart isn't in it.

I could go to a different shop and ask them to fit with the floor already smoothed. Whichever direction I take seems to be a compromise now.

...and too right, I'd be the same.
Fair enough the odd one here and there is standard these days but if it really is as bad as he's saying then why should he have to waste his own time.
