If you put a clic down on a u level surface it will come apart quickser than it was put down. It has a tolerance of around 3-4mm and then the joins will fail

Agree with what my colleagues say re click flooring and especially if your floor is not level don't even think of a click.

Thanks guys... but the consensus is to level with ply first, right?

I also found some minor black mould under the old ply, which is on the MDF that I want to lay new ply in. Any suggestions in what to do with it?

Should the MDF be replaced with ply, or can I lay the play on top of it?

It looks as though the ply could be fitted on top. Screw every 150mm and screed over the top of the ply.

Thanks. And do I just leave a gap between the ply and MDF where it’ll be uneven?

Leave a gap but fill it level with screed and then screed again over the full surface leaving you with a smooth area suitable for your LVT.
