Is anyone using anything else but SP101 or FG1 ? Prices are going silly now but hard to know what else is good. Heard Jewsons has some decent gear but not been to look.
If we used 'designer' high spec ply's and charged accordingly, we wouldn't get any LVT work. Headlam's standard ply is usually OK, though there has been the odd bad batch which we've had to reject.
I've been thinking about changing back to standard ply, i never had any problems with with it before sp101 came out
I use standard ply, no issues from my supplier since I started using them near 3yrs ago. I've had more issues with sp101 than I have with standard! Do Give alternative with fg1
I agree with you that the price is far from ideal . I checked out jewsons new high grade ply about 6 months ago , looked fine took away 30 odd sheets for a job and then started noticing speed bumps so took them all back , it may had just been bad first batch I don’t know , I only feather the seams on ply so i don’t want to spend time checking for imperfections on every sheet so went straight back to sp101, I’m on the look out for decent ply tho at a much better price I may check out jewsons again at the end of the week .
There a reason why Sp101 and Fg1 have been produced These plywood have been specifically designed for the flooring industry after decades of problems and floor failures due to inferior unsuitable plywood Even the so called Higher quality plywood Yes there not as cheap but most floor covering manufacturers recommend them now and wont guarantee their products fitted on anything else so why skimp and take the risk. It's also a good selling point and can give you and your customers piece of mind and confidence. Keep your standards high people You and your customers deserve it !
I've had this conversation with a couple reps and they told me it's no difference whether I use floor grade or standard ply with their lvt, Same info was passed onto the shop I do their lvt for....go figure!
LVT manufacturers won’t guarantee anything. You can’t even install it in direct sunlight ffs. Your ply I ant the problem, it’s your plastic floor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, they make good ply, but as they pretty much say in their comparison sheet, so do some other companies, the issue people are starting to have is that you have two companies, who have seemingly agreed not to compete on price, to keep their profits up, constantly increasing their price, not a big problem if you're mainly a fitter and the the supply part is more of a bonus on top of the fitting fee(no disrespect intended to anyone),but when you are running a business with increasing overheads and decreasing profit margins, it starts to become an issue
