Hello there, Im Mark, 33 years old and currently live in Gateshead. Having been employed as a HGV driver since leaving the Army in 2009 I have slowly hated my job more and more. I have came to the realisation I will have to invest to have a decent chance at having a happy work life in the future. I spent last year looking at everything that was reasonable to retrain in and set my sights on the flooring industry. Being a keen DIYer the idea of a hands on role is attractive. I have booked various courses throughout 2020 but I know this will only be a starting point. If anyone in the local area would like a part time labourer free of charge please let me know as this would be a massive help to myself. I currently work shifts so this leaves me with a lot of free time through the day, thanks and any advice would be much appreciated.
Would like to start with carpet as that is my first course, I do have the level 1 laminate course booked for later in the year as well. I understand the timings are close together but it can only give me extra knowledge and experience. Having a young family and all the regular bills training full time isn’t an option so I think learning in my spare time is the only way forward for me.
Carpets not a bad place to start and has the potential to give you a very good wage once you're proficient at it. Good luck
Welcome to the forum Mark Isnt Gods country great I say as far away from fluff as possible unfortunately
I'm in Morpeth. I have a carpet shop, and I am the dogs bollocks of carpet fitting, though I am semi retired from installation work. I used to be a fitting contractor, estimator, and installation advisor to four North East department stores including Fenwick and John Lewis of Newcastle. P.M. me your contact details and perhaps I can help you out.
