    Hello,

We’ve seen a carpet we like in Carpetright, but would like to consider getting a second quote from an independent carpet shop. Does anyone know who makes their Baker range of saxony carpets in their pompadour colour? The spec is as follows:

    Pompadour colour
    100% polypropylene
    Secondary backing
    15.5 pile height
    18 pile hight
    Lifetime stain warranty
    Heather carpet style
    Made in Belgium
    Product code A76870950501

Would anyone also recommend an alternative carpet or mix that still gives that deep pile softness, but isn’t likely to flatten?

Thanks everyone in advance of your helpful advice.

Dont have a name for the carpet, but all saxonys will flatten, some worse than others.

They really have changed up the list in the past few months.

The salmon pink colouration for the "Sorbet" is a help - as there's pretty much bugger all on the market in that shade. I'd potentially have a look at AW Invictus Indus... Probably wrong. But, it might be...

Thanks for the replies so far. The color is a grey blue tone. I looked at the Invictus Indus, but they come with a 20 year warranty.

Victoria first impressions is decent. Most thick pile carpets fatten if not using the correct vacuum with a beater bar in it.

Thanks everyone. The colour code is 71, which looks similar (on a computer screen) to Associated Weavers San Miguel 71 and Suspense 71. Does the ref 71 mean the same colour across all the Associated Weaver ranges? Thanks again for all your help?

We visited a local independent carpet shop today and he showed us the match to the Carpet Right Baker range It was an exact match to Associated Weavers San Miguel and he was selling it at £13.99 compared to Carpet Rights full price of £44.99!! Even when reduced to Carpet Rights true sale price of £20.25, you can still get this cheaper at the independent carpet shop. He was so helpful and knowledgable and wasn’t pushy.

He said he stocked it purposely to show how his prices compared to Carpet Right, but said it was a very average carpet and wouldn’t particularly recommend it. Glad we resolved the issue and can now move on.

Because of a colour we’re trying to match to, the carpet shop owner suggested a Millennium Weavers Sensual carpet in cloud blue. He said that they used to have a bad reputation, but that since they are now part of the Victoria Group quality has improved. It is a 2 ply yarn and is 2520 gr/sqm. Does anyone have any views on this range. Thanks.

Personally I don’t like any saxony’s they all flatten (all carpets do) but they show it much more than a good twist on a quality underlay and are a pain in the backside to vacuum in comparison, if you were looking at that original £44m2 price seriously consider westex, brockway etc for a quality 80/20 wool twist.

Sensual from millennium is 10 times better than aw. What was he selling it for out of interest?

He was selling it for £20 per SQM. Is that a good price? Why do you say the Millennium Weavers Sensual is good? Would you say this was better than an Oakland’s 80 / 20? Thanks
