This year is going to see the change of mankind imo. Work will dry up and that’s a fact. People won’t have the money to pay for flooring. We won’t have a holiday this year I don’t think. Staff will be laid off. Going out for meals and the pub won’t happen till back end of the year. I pray we all get through this lads and have a amazing 2021 Stay Safe my friends!!!
I am still in shock it's like the twilight zone I can see a full lockdown coming Was booked up for Cyprus next month but I've cancelled it Work is still full on Unless the Government tells me otherwise Customers seem happy for me to proceed so they ho. More and more people are starting to take this serious now, especially the younger gen now that places have proceeded to shut down. It's going to be a strange one that will take a hell of a lot of adapting to thats for sure. Bo holidays for my lot this year, being self employed I'm going to continue best I can until the army escort me off the road (providing I dont catch the virus before then)
It’s a scary time no doubt about it, but we need to help other as much as possible through it, I think once it blows over, work will go mental, contracts will need completing, consumers will change their floor they’ve looked at for weeks, maybe months sat at home.....first holiday booked for 9 years for May will cancel I expect, buying a house looks more impossible than ever, probably finish me off being self employed too, which If it does, I’ll leave the industry as I can’t see me ever getting what I want out of it.
Defiantly some fundamental changes will come out of this. Work is continuing for us, but at a guess, whats still open in London, will close next week and I think, that will include sites. My lads are all cards in with me, and I can`t work out if the government are offering to pay 80% of wages, or if thats a repayable loan...... I think that there will be changes to what they are offering self employed people tomorrow. They have to, or what people stand to lose, may never be recovered. Every single person/business that I talk to has been effected by this, and looking at Europe this is only the very start of it.
Yes they have to look at this self employed situation pronto because it just isn't fair at all. Quick example - my sister works in a department where 2 women sit opposite each other doing exactly the same jobs on the same system, totally identical yet 1 of the women is 'on the books' and the other is self employed to the company yet 1 is going to be covered 80% of her wages and the other (self employed) is told she will get whatever the government is giving the self employed which is no more than £90 a week! Ridiculous
We don't know how long this will go on for, we could get to the point of the country being in the clear, then a couple of weeks later someone brings it back into the country and kicks it all off again
If the government doesn't stop us first, at what point should we stop going to work? We don't know who is infected, your customer could have just come back from the supermarket for example, been in close proximity to to lots of other people, held on to a trolley or basket that's been held by god knows how many people before, they come home, touch handles,etc.,make you a brew, breath all over you
This is the predicament we have, fortunately for me I have the keys to an unoccupied house which will fill 5 full days of work then the jobs I have planned for next week the owners are at work (up to now) but for those who are entering houses occupied then you really dont know what the situation is really. If I can get through the next 2 weeks I am able to hold off works for 2 - 3weeks if need be, just hope it doesnt come to that as it all has a knock on effect. Stumped!!!!
Carry antibac with you at all times, start wearing gloves etc once within the property and ensure they are at least 2m away from you, shops my way are already insisting on anti bac stations at the front of their stores, I have always had anti bac in the car on my travels, but looks like it will become the normal everywhere from now on

According to my boss, hes been told sites are open. My friends who operate the crains have been told to continue working and theyre livid about it. Our work isnt essential, but entering a empty newbuild is in my opinion less risky than a walk through tescos, but for the rest of the site i just cant see it operating and complying with the 2 people and distance rule
I only live about 4 miles from the shop and it's in a gated compound ,i have to go shopping for food anyway, i live on takeaways,i only usually have food in the house at Christmas because I'm hardly there
