hi I hope you are well and thanks for your help in advance.

I'm looking to lay a vinyl floor in the room in the picture when the floor is complete.... the subfloor is brand new. it is a floating floor.

the room is going to be a games room. its going to have a slate 7ft pool table in it

do i want click or glue down?

can i lay straight onto the chipboard or do i need to do any other prep?

which brand? quick step, amtico, polyflor, karndean?

    thanks again!

All those brands are good, some ranges are better than other. Depends on your budget. I’m a big fan of Quickstep personally

this room should be fairly straight forward i think....but the rest of the house is 1920's with suspended timber floors that very definitely are not flat...is this something a moderately skilled diy'er can take on do you think?

On the above LVT I’d go quickstep Livyn glue.

yes as dan says 6mm sp101 or fg1 plywood

on your floorboards. 1st thing is to make sure secure and flat so sand down any high spots. Maybe get some pics up

just trying to forward think this a bit - on the old part of the house - is it going to better to use click fit with underlay? i'm just thinking that if i do go for the rest of the house, i would like the whole house to be the same i think, which might alter my thinking on the new room

It’s never better to use clic with underlay unless it’s a temporary installation

might reevaluate the flooring - gluedown is gonna be about 1k for the ply and glue and flooring.

be about £350 for this stuff

Quick-Step Creo virginia oak brown from wood2u (cant post links as i dont have enough posts yet...)

    is it any good?

You will struggle to get anything at the moment.
    Most suppliers are closed up.
