Hi all, I hope you're keeping as well as possible in these times.
We're after a quick bit of advice, if possible?
We've previously successfully carpeted the upstairs of a house (twice), so we have a bit of carpet laying experience.
During the isolation period we're hoping to move onto carpeting the stairs. We're going for carpeting the tread only and have already painted the risers ready. What we're not sure about is the best way to secure the carpet under the nose of the stair. We had thought that we might be able to run a gripper under the edge, but the nose doesn't come out far enough to do this, what would your advice be?

Also, we've got Cloud 9 Cumulus underlay for underneath, how far should we take this over the edge of the nose?

Thanks all, we really appreciate any advice you can provide :)

I wouldnt personally put cumulus 11mm on my stairs but if that's all you got then guess it wont hurt. 8mm is max I go on stairs...

You will need to staple the carpet under the bullnose but if you haven't got access to a stapler (a proper carpet stapler and not the one you use for your papers) then a load of hand pinned tacs will do.....plenty of time :D

Take the underlay right to the level edge but not too far over that it wraps.

    Thanks both!
For the wrapping I used a heavy duty staple gun after pulling the carpet tight. I wanted it to look really neat though, so fitted and painted some strips of wood up tight underneath too.
That was the finishing off I mentioned.

it’s definitely not going anywhere for a while with the rod, staples, carpet glue and wooden baton
